Kim Bayma

Kim has lived in Chicagoland for more than a decade and has called Skokie home for four years. Being a part of an active community is a core reason she chose Chicago to be her home after living in car-dependent areas for her entire life. Kim has worked at LinkedIn as a success manager for nearly three years. Prior to LinkedIn, Kim spent seven years in human resources consulting at Aon Hewitt and Willis Towers Watson. Within the greater Chicago community, Kim served on the leadership teams for Chicago Lakefront Walk MS, Chicago Alumnae Panhellenic (where she was founding president), and Alpha Sigma Alpha Windy City Alumnae Chapter. Kim will soon receive her masters of science in learning and organizational change at Northwestern University. Kim completed her first 100 mile ride in the summer of 2016.
Jane Blew Healy (past president)

Jane has been on the board of the Active Transportation Alliance for over 12 years and formerly served as president of the board. She has seen the expansion of the mission of our organization as well as the development of Bike the Drive. Jane was a three term-elected member of the board of education for Cook County School District 130, which serves Blue Island, Crestwood, Robbins and Alsip in the South Suburbs; she presently teaches science in district 218, serving the same communities. As part of her tenure, she has worked to get playgrounds built, bike racks installed, promoted health and wellness initiatives, as well as successfully writing — and winning — two Safe Routes to School grants from the federal government. She helped found the Blue Island Bicycle Club, where she serves as president, and has developed and oversees a highly successful children’s bike club that rides every Friday. Jane served as vice-president of the Friends of the Cal-Sag Trail group, serves on the city of Blue Island’s Community Health Coalition, and helps work with the city of Blue Island and their park district on various activities. She has worked aggressively to promote Complete Streets in and around her community.
Corey Coscioni (past president)

Corey is the director of strategic alliance, corporate and business development at the business consulting firm, West Monroe Partners. He has more than 25 years of business consulting and information technology leadership experience in a variety of industries. He was instrumental in helping to improve the Lakefront Path Ardmore connection, and is a founding member of the North Lakefront Bicycle Users Group. Former president of Active Transportation Alliance’s Board of Directors, Corey has been a board member for 20 years. He loves riding with his wife and 15-year-old twin daughters.
Joseph Donegan

Joseph Donegan is a Senior Counsel at Grant Thornton LLP and has been practicing law in Chicago for more than 11 years. He’s passionate about improving transit, bike, and pedestrian infrastructure. Joseph currently lives in Logan Square with his wife, infant daughter, cat, and dog. He received a bachelor’s in physics from Loyola Chicago and attended Boston University for law school.
Luann Hamiliton (vice president)

Luann is a Senior Advisor at TranSmart, Inc., one of the largest women- and minority-owned transportation engineering firms in the Midwest. Luann is the former deputy commissioner for the Division of Project Development at the Chicago Department of Transportation. During her 34 years at CDOT, she led a staff dedicated to multi-modalism during the growth of Chicago’s pedestrian and bicycle programs and the launch of Vision Zero. She received her B.A. at DePaul University and Master’s at Penn State, and is a longtime resident of the Peterson Woods neighborhood on Chicago’s Far North Side.
Brandy Hillman

Brandy Hillman is a Project Manager for Generate Capitol, a San Francisco-based finance company that builds, owns, and operates more than 2,000 sustainable infrastructure assets. Brandy spent 10 years in the transportation and public transit realm supporting the Federal Transit Administration, Federal Rail Association, U.S. Department of Transportation, and a host of local transit agencies. She holds a bachelor’s in Business Administration from Xavier University and a master’s in City and Regional Planning from The Ohio State University.
Julie Hubbard

Julie is Chief Financial Officer at American Board of Medical Specialties. She has a background in both for-profit and non-profit finance and received an MBA from University of Chicago Booth School. Julie has participated in several Bike the Drive events and is a regular volunteer at the Lakeview Pantry.
Kevin Irvine

Kevin Irvine (he/him/his) works at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago as its Senior Talent Acquisition Consultant, Individuals with Disabilities. In 2022, Kevin completed 10 years of service on the Board of Directors for the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA.) In addition to being appointed to the CTA Board of Directors by former Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Kevin served for several years as chair of CTA’s ADA Advisory Committee and as an advisor to its Infrastructure Accessibility Task Force. He was also as part of the legal team that filed a comprehensive ADA lawsuit against the CTA, which resulted in a class action settlement. Kevin is a Leadership Greater Chicago Fellow, a Disability Lead member, and a graduate of Purchase College, State University of New York. Kevin has lived experience with disabilities (HIV, Hemophilia B). His involvement in transportation advocacy has included participation in many committees, advisory groups, and conferences, on local, regional and national levels.

Jim is a licensed architect and current Senior Director of Planning & Design for Brookfield Properties Retail, a real estate investment trust that develops, operates, and manages 200+ retail assets in nine countries. Jim is a LEED certified design professional who oversees sustainability guidelines in his company, including multimodal transportation and planning. Jim is active in the Chicago Cycling Club and the Evanston Cycling Club. He serves on Active Trans’ Events Strategy Committee and he served as president of the Active Trans Board of Directors 2013 – 2015. Jim is a multi-unit residential landlord and a year-round bike commuter from the north side of Chicago to his office in the Loop. He enjoys enjoys multi-day touring rides in the US and overseas and has participated in long-distance endurance rides, successfully completing five 1,200K events, including Paris-Brest-Paris (twice).
Philippe Lunardelli (treasurer)

Philippe is originally from France, where he was always able to walk or take public transportation to school and then work. He never even owned a car before he moved to Chicago. He is an avid weekend cyclist but also commutes to work by bike, when not by train. He moved his family across town so his two children could grow up within walking distance of their new school, Lycée Français, where he also volunteers as a member of the board of trustees and serves as head of the board’s development committee. Philippe has an MBA from the University of Georgia and is the CFO at WellRight, a Chicago wellness tech company.
Debbie Liu

Debbie Liu is an Associate at Metropolitan Planning Council working on equitable development issues for the Chicago region. Her interests are in health in all policies, social justice, anti-gentrification, and anti-displacement, particularly for historically disenfranchised communities. She received her Master of Public Health from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and lives in South Loop with her husband, infant son, and dog.
Mulubwa Munkanta

Mulubwa Munkanta has worked at SRAM, a local bicycle components manufacturer, since 2007 where he is currently a Director of Financial Planning and Analysis. Mulubwa serves on the board of Experimental Station and previously served as treasurer and club captain of the Major Taylor Cycling Club Chicago, and as chair of Chicago’s 49th Ward Participatory Budgeting Transportation Committee. In addition, he volunteers as bookkeeper for Friends of Big Marsh. He received his bachelor’s in Business Administration from Loyola University, New Orleans, and a master’s of Business Administration from Vanderbilt University. Mulubwa enjoys cycling with groups large and small, and in locations near and far. He has lived in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood since 2006.
Dao Ngo

Dao Ngo has worked as an attorney for the City of Chicago, focusing on major construction projects such as the O’Hare Modernization Program. She also worked in Chicago’s Department of Transportation on a broad range of projects, including Divvy, the Riverwalk, the Navy Pier Flyover, and bike lane installations. Currently, Dao serves as an attorney at the city’s convention center, McCormick Place. She graduated from Amherst College with a bachelor’s in Economics and received a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.

Peggy joined Active Transportation Alliance in 2009 while participating in one of the earliest Open Streets events in Chicago. She was impressed by Active Trans’ commitment to engaging diverse communities in making streets safe for walking, biking and active fun. Peggy’s wide-ranging experience in the nonprofit sector includes her current role as director of foundation relations for the Advocate Charitable Foundation, which is part of Advocate Health Care. Peggy has also held fundraising and program management roles at the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance, the Chicago Botanic Garden and Windows of Opportunity, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving residents of Chicago’s public housing. Peggy has a master’s of planning degree from the University of Minnesota’s Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs. She has a keen interest in the intersection of health, energy, the environment and community development. Peggy makes her home in Niles, with her husband Chad McCoy. Together they bike thousands of miles annually, typically completing two cross-state bicycle tours each year.
James Rogers (secretary)

Jim arrived in Chicago in 2012 to be general counsel of Orbitz Worldwide, and learned about Active Trans when he filled in at the last moment to accept Orbitz’s award for the Bike Commuter Challenge. He became a big fan of Active Trans, signed up for Divvy when it arrived in Chicago, and used Divvy to bike to work, even during the Chicago winter. Before he came to Chicago, Jim had been a partner in a large law firm in Washington, DC, and then was general counsel of TLC Vision, an eye-care company headquartered in St. Louis. He bought a used bike in St. Louis and rode it back home to Washington when his job was over, demonstrating a typical east-coast ignorance of Midwestern geography, which he has since overcome. Jim has become such a fan of Chicago that he has taken another job in the windy city, as chief legal officer of cars.com — but he still rides Divvy to work.
Elliot Rossen

Elliot is a multi-modal transportation user making frequent use of Metra, Divvy bike sharing, the CTA and walking. He is an independent Strategic Brand Innovation Consultant who blends a deep strategy background with applied foresight and breakthrough-innovation expertise to help companies bring clarity to chaos to drive transformative growth. Before entering the consulting world, Elliot acquired 20 years of experience guiding marketing and new product development in both large public companies and privately-owned, entrepreneurial firms. He is a member of Bike-Walk Highland Park and the Highland Park Transportation Advisory Group, helping to bring progressive transportation approaches to that community. In addition, he is a member of Velo Club Roubaix, a group of about 80 avid cyclists participating in road, cross, gravel, and mountain biking.
Jackie Rouse

Dr. Jackie Rouse has over 25 years of community health management experience as well as 14 years of experience in public health and non-profit business development. She currently serves as the Vice President of Community Health for Advocate Aurora Health, where she is responsible for the development and management of community health programming and community strategy development for Advocate Aurora Health service areas in Illinois. Before joining Advocate Aurora Health in 2006, Dr. Rouse served as Director of Community Affairs at Sinai Community Institute. She holds a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from University of North Texas, a master’s degree in health care administration from Texas Women’s University, and a doctorate of public health from Walden University.
Rubani Shaw (president)

Rubani has been living in the Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago and the nearby neighborhoods of Humboldt Park, Logan Square, Noble Square, and Avondale for more than fifteen years. He works as a designer for design and innovation agencies. In addition to being a year-round bicycle commuter, he is interested in ideas and activities that reflect his commitment to ecological, personal, and urban health. Rubani volunteers at a local church, enjoys collaborating with people involved in urban renewal, and participates in a variety of outdoor activities. His culturally diverse background, drive for overall healthier neighborhoods, and inclination to find unusual or unique solutions to problems are some of the qualities he brings to the Active Transportation Alliance board. Rubani served as vice president of the board 2007-2011.
Kevin Stanciel

A resident of the historic Gap neighborhood in Bronzeville, Kevin has more than 35 years’ experience cycling the streets of Chicago and riding the CTA, Metra and Pace. He has worked with the Openlands Project, City of Chicago Department of Environment and the Chicago Transit Authority, where he oversaw the initiation of the CTA’s bike programs. For a couple of years, Kevin worked as a transit consultant where he spent much of his time working to help improve transit in Detroit and Southeast Michigan. In 2016 Kevin was elected to vice president of the Active Transportation Alliance Board. Kevin is a graduate of the University of Illinois-Urbana where he received a master’s of urban planning. He currently works at the Regional Transportation Authority coordinating planning and technology projects with CTA, Metra and Pace.
Emily Tapia-Lopez

Emily is the director of strategic initiatives for HNTB, an architecture and civil engineering company. She has more than 14 years of planning, public engagement and communications experience. She has developed and implemented strategic communication, advocacy, media and outreach campaigns for clients, including government agencies, national association groups, engineering and transportation-related entities. Emily provides clients with in-depth knowledge on the public regulatory process and political risks associated with policy. Prior to joining HNTB, Emily was vice president at a strategic communications and public affairs firm and managed the firm’s public-private partnership and infrastructure practice. A Chicago native, Emily has a master’s degree in urban planning from the University of Illinois-Chicago.
Peter Taylor

Peter is a systems engineer for the University of Chicago Biomedicine Information System, where he has worked since 1988. Peter was a member of the Stanford University varsity football team from 1979-1982. He has five children, and has been active member of the Major Taylor Cycling Club Chicago, a group formed to help promote bicycling among Chicago’s African-American community. Active Trans gave Peter its Public Service Award at its 30th Anniversary Soiree for his efforts in getting the Major Taylor Trail off the ground, and his work over the years to help ensure the trail lives up to its potential. Peter has served as serve as the trail’s lead advocate, pressing the city for better maintenance and installing basic elements like trash receptacles and signage. He lives in the Chicago neighborhood of Roseland Heights.
Chris Valadez

Chris Valadez is a healthcare entrepreneur and data analyst currently serving as CEO of Thermatome, a medical device startup. Chris co-founded Cycle Brookfield, a non-profit based in Brookfield with a mission to make Brookfield more bikeable. He sits on Ride Illinois’s Regional Action Team and Brookfield’s Economic Development Commission, and he was the recipient of Active Transportation Alliance’s Advocate of the Year award in 2021. Chris enjoys road, gravel, and cyclocross biking.
Lakeshia Wright

Lakeshia is Senior Program Officer at the Institute for Sustainable Communities. She works on community-led resilience programs, including the Partnership for Resilient Communities, as well as other projects focused on community-led efforts led by local leaders. Lakeshia holds a Master of Urban Planning and Policy from University of Illinois at Chicago and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and holds a certificate in Geospatial Analysis and Visualization.
